Slow Motion on an April Evening

The soft air that buoyed me up, without excuse,
practically windless after a brash winter--
jewels sparkling on the sun trail as a pot
under the rainbow, or at least under
the bridge, ornate with fractaled light--

I was late, again, and too stunned
by such blanket warmth in the air
to pick up the pace, focused at all,
but thinking heaven landed while I
did chores all day in the shadows.
